ANNOUNCING....

April 2005 Choke Recipients

Was a virtual lock after the Sox series in early April.  2 consecutive blown saves, 10.80 ERA - Outstanding!  Keep it up MO - we'd love to give you move standing ovations at the Fens!

Hitting a Stevie Wonder like .224 for April.  Now his arm is tired???  Most expensive choke on the team, should be showing up here again, and again, and again, and again...........

HONORABLE MENTION.....

Jorge Posada: .235 1 HR

Bernie Williams: .247 1 HR

Kevin Brown 6.63 ERA ($16m Salary)

Jaret Wright 9.15 ERA (Should have kept Jon Lieber eh?)

MAY 2005 Choke Recipients

His picture is way too ugly to post on this or any site for that matter.......

BIG UNIT: Had a 5-3, 4+ ERA in May.  Not exactly a staff ace - especially at $16m.

Poor stiff still batting .231, 4hr, 13 rbi, and 1 strikeout in every 4 at bats

HONORABLE MENTION.....

A-Rod: 8 Errors already - is that a glove or a purse?

Hideki Matsui: No HR in 180 AB, batting .261

Carl Pavano:  4-3, 4+ ERA (For $9m?  Ouch!)

Brian Cashman:  Could of had these 3 pitchers for less money than Big Unit:

Brad Halsey: 4-2, 2.98 ERA

Javier Vasquez: 5-3, 3.65 ERA

Jon Lieber: 6-4, 4.40 ERA

JUNE 2005 Choke Recipients

Tino was on an amazing tear...  But not in June.  Hitting a dismal .221 and the power is gone.  He must be due to get tested in July.

Tony hitting like he wants to get out of town now too.  Batting a robust .243 and still pissed he's playing left.  Is there anything better than having a 2B playing the outfield on a team with a $200m payroll?

HONORABLE MENTION.....

A-Rod: 2 hits in his last 23 AB

Mike Stanton & Paul Quantrill: To be released ($7m gone!)

Carl Pavano:  4-6, 4.77 ERA (On DL soon?)

Derek Jeter:  Good news .308BA.  Bad - 10hr & 35rbi are way off career #'s

Kevin Brown: Still Sucks...

JULY 2005 Choke Recipients

Jorge really stinking up the BA.  Hitting a sun-like hot .252

Bernie not exactly tearing the cover off the ball.  Hitting a consistent .250 or less all year.  Why didn't they pick up his option for next year?

HONORABLE MENTION.....

Tino Martinez: Hitting a now consistent .223

Melky Cabrera: Call-up hit a startling .211 & how bout that defense!

Al Leiter:  One time wonder: 19 IP, 24H, 13ER, 15BB, 14K - WOW!

Alan Embree:  Sorry to see him go, but glad he's helping us now

Kevin Brown: Put a fork in him already...

AUGUST 2005 Choke Recipients

Aug Combo of Womack (.218BA) & Cano (.190BA) - leads to Belhorn (.176BA in AAA "rehab").  Yikes.  Good luck...

Mikey pitched an eye popping 6.68ERA in Aug.  Next start to be skipped.  There's a theme here.  No way this rotation holds up for 30 games...

HONORABLE MENTION.....

Jorge Posada: Keeping that consistent .250 BA going

Giambi: 4 for 38 until "Cortisone" shot for his elbow.  Please...

Tanyon Sturtze:  Here's the Tanyon we remember - 5.11 ERA

Mariano Rivera:  A human 2.81 in Aug - doubling his ERA for year

Raffy Palmeiro: .091BA after return.  Sucks to do it like everyone else?

SEPTEMBER 2005 Choke Recipients

Embree.  Poor bastard.  Really didn't want any part of the NY thing.  Sept ERA of 14+, BAA .417 - OUCH!  Still helping Sox...

One time wonder Leiter.  ERA of over 10, BAA of .360+ - nice to see him back to form...

HONORABLE MENTION.....

Matt Lawton: Trade deadline pickup batting .133

Giambi: Robust .256 BA - time for another injection?

Mussina / Wright:  Shared - both with a 6+ ERA...

Sheffield:  Comes back to earth with a .267 BA in Sept
